After an online video explaining the situation on Friday generated more than one million views, ESPN reported Monday that Holland said he put his ball in the hole of the par-3 fourth before the start of the event and then said he got a hole-in-one after his group arrived. Holland explained he was able to trick his playing partners by temporarily leaving the group after completing three holes to make a personal phone call. He told his group he would move ahead and tee off on the fourth and then meet them on the green. When the group arrived at the green, they assumed he made a hole-in-one. Yet security footage showed Holland driving by the fourth green ahead of the event, and he admitted to his actions in the aftermath. "There's no excuse for what I did, and I was completely in the wrong," Holland said. "There's really no motivation. Just complete stupidity, and we were giving two shots back to the field and that's not an excuse. There's no excuse for what happened."
